Madagascar Comet Moth - Beadwoven Necklace

675.00

An artistically rendered specimen. True to size and magnificent in its proportions.
The Madagascar Comet Moth is so named for its phenomenal long red "tails".

This natural beauty was hand bead-woven using hundreds of tiny glass Delica beads for the wings in an incredible palette of golden & mustard yellows, sepia, burnt umber, rust, russet, Spanish orange, plum, olive& grassy greens, creamy white, ebony and translucent crystal.
The body is represented by a delectable faceted nugget of AAA grade, warm honey Baltic Amber with silver filigree "antennae".
The necklace is comprised of:
*smooth, luminous golden brown Tiger Eye
*super rare,Vintage Mink Swarovski Austrian Crystal - ooh, that warm olivey, topazy sparkle! (the last 4 beads from my stash...gulp)
*a veritable parade of AAA grade, uber luscious Baltic Amber - like tupelo honey, rich with sunshine (swoon!)
*Sterling Silver accents - all lovingly hand-knotted on silk.
'Tis finished off with a hand crafted vintage-look clasp set with Swarovski Austrian crystals.

wingspan: 6.5 inches!
height: 4.25 inches!
necklace: 17 inches

The Madagascar Comet Moth looks stunning perched about your collarbones.
She arrives beautifully presented in her own "Riker Mount" (scientific display case) with her Latin name and origin handwritten inside. The "common" name is written on the back of the case along with a listing of stones and other elements used in her creation. These pieces are signed by the artist.

You can attach a picture hook to the back of the case and display the Madagascar Comet Moth as an art/ scientific specimen as a lovely alternative to hiding her away in your jewelry box!

ps Butterflies and Moths bring us so much beauty and they are wonderful pollinators during their short and fragile life-spans. With this hand-crafted artistic specimen, you can enjoy that beauty and rejoice in the knowledge that not a single wing was harmed in its creation xo
