Starling Well Feathered Nest Necklace

$1,600.00

The Starling Well Feathered Nest Necklace is woodland fantasy costuming for your lovely neck.

Individually bead-woven Starling Feathers (1 1/2" - 3") flutter about hither & yon. Each plume is lovingly hand beaded with wee little glass seed beads of ebony, charcoal, amethyst, violet, plum, emerald & gold. They nestle ever so gently amongst dramatic & lovely super luminous 10 mm Rainbow Obsidian beads.
Dozens of 4mm Rainbow Obsidian beads are woven in round & round, within a net of Starling colored seed beads, evoking images of wee eggs secure and warm within the nest.
The Starling Well Feathered Nest Necklace measures a collar bone kissing 20 inches and fastens with a button and loop closure.
The button is a luscious treasure in and of itself: a gorgeous lily motif Victorian perfume button*.
All elements have been lovingly and meticulously hand beaded, stitched and woven for ultimate beauty, strength and longevity!

~earrings sold separately

*Perfume buttons usually consisted of a small scrap of velvet overlaid with decorative pierced brass. During the Civil War, a woman would stitch one of these perfumed buttons under her man’s uniform collar, so that far from home and in the midst of great danger, he would be comforted by the familiar fragrance of his beloved. (Perfume buttons were also worn by women generally in those days because the perfumes of the Victorian Era were oil-based and therefore easily stained clothing. Perfume buttons not only eliminated this risk, but also lent staying power to a dab of perfume).
